Choosing Between Wedding Dresses: How To Decide Between A Dress From 2 Different Bridal Shops

Feb 28, 2022

It’s no secret that not every bride finds her dress at the first bridal shop that she goes to… and that’s totally okay! But how do you go about choosing between wedding dresses from two different bridal shops?

When you try on wedding dress after wedding dress, it can start to feel like you’re trying to find a needle in a haystack. But the more dresses you search through, the more you’ll realize what your favorites are. Sometimes, you will end up with two favorite dresses… at two different bridal shops!

It can be hard to decide which one you love more, because it’s impossible to be in both places, with both dresses in front of you, at the same time. Plus, a lot of times, the dresses are two completely different styles.

So, how do you go about choosing between wedding dresses from different bridal shops?!

Think About All Dresses That You’ve Tried On

First, you should be thinking about all of the dresses that you’ve tried on while wedding dress shopping, not just the ones that you’ve tried on at the appointment that you’re in.

It can be easy to say “this is the best dress that I’ve tried on today!” instead of thinking about the dress(es) that you loved at a different shop.

Remember: the goal is to find the dress. Not just dress. To do that, you should compare all of your options to each other.

If you go appointment by appointment to compare dresses, it will only create a more difficult decision-making process. You could end up having favorites from multiple bridal shops, which makes things very hard.

Take Pictures of Your Two Favorites

Try to take pictures of all of the dresses that you like as you try them on. Pictures will help you narrow down your options without having to try all of them on again.

Plus, once you start trying on too many dresses, your memory can start to get blurry, and it can be hard to remember about what you liked about some of the first dresses that you tried on.

Remember What’s Important to You

Trying to find a dress that matches you and your personality may not be as easy as you want it to be.

You might like multiple different styles, which is perfectly fine! It’s okay to like A-lines full of lace, and equally like beaded ballgowns.

Plus, once you do have a silhouette and a general style nailed down, there are so many subtle differences between two different dresses that can be hard to keep track of.

Try your best to think about specific things that you like about each gown to help figure out your dress style. Do you like lace detailing? Do you like thin straps? These small details might help one dress give the edge of the other one!

Which Bridal Shop Fits You Best?

Have you tried every single way of comparing each dress, and still feel torn between them? Think about the differences between each bridal shop.

Do they have a list of seamstresses available to you? Which store is friendlier?

You will be working with your bridal shop throughout the wedding planning journey, so it’s important that you have a good relationship with them! If you’re truly torn between two dresses at two shops, then the shop might end up making your decision for you.

When it comes down to it, only one dress is going to be perfect for you and your wedding day! You’re going to choose the right one.
