Trying to find a wedding dress on a budget can be stressful. We get it! However, there are so many options out there for finding your dream dress on a budget.
Today, we’re going to go through some ideas for you to find your dress on a budget!
7 TIPS FOR FINDING A WEDDING DRESS ON A BUDGET
Here are a few of our tips on finding your wedding dress on a budget!
1. Look at bridesmaid dresses
Who says that you can’t buy a bridesmaid dress as your wedding dress? This is perfect for brides who are looking for more of a simple dress. Bridesmaid dresses come in pretty much every color imaginable — including white and ivory! These gowns are significantly less expensive than bridal gowns, so it is a good way to save a lot of money on your dress.
2. Shop (or sell!) second-hand
Of course, buying a dress second-hand is an easy way to get a wedding dress on a budget. But, selling your wedding dress after your wedding is a way to make some of that money back! There are a lot of websites out there that buy and sell wedding dresses, or you can look into consignments shops in your area. There might even be a bridal-specific store near you!
3. Choose a color that isn’t white
This might not be a surefire way to save money on your wedding dress, but it’s worth looking into! You may be able to save some money on your dress if you’re looking for a non-traditional color. This is especially true if you’re willing to look at bridesmaid dresses that are various colors. However, nowadays, many bridal gowns come in shades of blush, dusty blue, lavender… even black! These are more popular these days, so you probably won’t be able to save too much money this way. But it is worth a try if it’s something that you’re wanting to wear!
4. Look for sales and events
Look to see if your local bridal shop has any sales or events coming up. Most bridal shops regularly hold trunk shows and sample sales! Trunk shows are new collections from designers, and the bridal shop will typically hold a slight discount on the collection during the trunk show — typically no more than 10 percent. Sample sales are when a bridal shop is selling their ready-to-wear bridal gowns to brides at a steep discount. You get to bring the dress home with you the same day! They do this to make room for new collections that will be coming in — there is nothing wrong with the dresses beyond small snags, etc. that can easily be fixed by a seamstress!
Here at K&B Bridals, we are holding our annual Black Friday Bridal sale coming up soon. It is November 19-28, 2021 and we’re so excited! Spaces have filled up quickly but we still have some available! Give our shop a call at 301-665-1070 or click here to book your appointment.
5. Have a less formal wedding
If you are picturing yourself in an ornate ballgown, with a cathedral length veil, and having your reception in a country club — then you may want to skip this tip.
However, if you’re looking to have more of a simple wedding, then this is the perfect way to save some money on your dress. If you are having an outdoor wedding, rustic barn wedding, etc. then you may choose to have more of a simple dress.
Less detail on a dress typically means that it will be less expensive. Lace, beading, and other details are things that add to the cost of a dress!
6. Start shopping early
If you are looking to save money on your dress, then try not to wait until the last-minute. If you start shopping too late, then you risk having to pay rush shipping fees.

7. Tell your stylist your budget
Finally, be sure that you talk to your stylist about your budget. We suggest doing this when you book your appointment, or during your pre-shop. This way, your stylist will be able to tell you whether or not they carry dresses within your desired price range. This will also keep them from pulling dresses for you to try on that are above what you’re willing to spend!
When it comes down to it, there are so many ways to find a wedding dress on a budget. Try not to let it stress you out! Your dream dress is out there, at the right price.
